North India wrapped in dense fog, alert for many states including Delhi-UP
New Delhi . The entire North India including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi is in the grip of severe cold and dense fog these days. Along with cold, fog has further increased the problems of the people. On Saturday morning, the situation in many areas was such that there was complete darkness on the roads and visibility was very low. The Meteorological Department has issued a severe fog alert for Delhi, Noida, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. According to the department, there is no possibility of much drop in temperature, but the effect of cold will remain continuous. The minimum temperature in the capital Delhi is expected to be around 8 to 9 degrees Celsius till December 25. A special warning has been given regarding dense fog between 20 and 22 December.
The Meteorological Department says that clouds will also camp in many states of North India, due to which there will be less chances of sunshine during the day. Cloud movement with dense fog may continue over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir around December 21. After snowfall in the hilly areas, the cold winds coming from there can further intensify the cold in the plains. Talking about Uttar Pradesh, dense fog remained prevalent in many districts of the state even during the day, due to which the effect of cold has increased further. According to meteorological department officials, the westerly winds passing through North India are responsible for this situation. In the last 72 hours, the maximum temperature was recorded much below normal in many areas, while relatively little change was seen in the minimum temperature.
According to the forecast, dense to very dense fog and cold to extreme cold conditions may persist in many parts of the state for the next 24 to 48 hours. After this, due to the influence of western disturbance, there is a possibility of gradual increase in temperature and reduction in the intensity of fog. The weather center based in Lucknow has issued red and orange alerts for many districts. The situation remains serious in Delhi and surrounding areas also. Very dense fog was seen in the capital on Saturday morning. Dense fog also affected air traffic and many flights were canceled or delayed. There is less chance of sunshine in Delhi for the next two days. There is a possibility of dense fog in the morning and the movement of clouds will continue during the day. In such a situation, people are being advised to be cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.
