The fight to save Aravali intensifies… Akhilesh Yadav made this big appeal to the people of Delhi
Lucknow, 21 DecemberSamajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav has called on the citizens of Delhi and NCR to unite to save the Aravalli range, He said that saving Aravali is not an option but a resolution, because Aravali is the lifeline and natural security shield of Delhi-NCR,
Addressing the people of Delhi on his social media account on Sunday, Akhilesh Yadav posted that the Aravalli mountain range plays an important role in controlling Delhi’s air pollution, keeping the temperature balanced and conserving rain and water. This mountain range is protecting the biodiversity of NCR and has the potential to save the endangered wetlands and birds.
He said that Aravali is the only power which can make the stars appear again in the sky of Delhi. He warned that if the destruction of Aravali is not stopped, Delhi and NCR will never recover from smog, pollution and climate crisis. Its most lethal impact is on the elderly, children and sick people. It is having a negative impact on world famous hospitals and even the medical service sector, where people coming for treatment are now shying away due to the fear of pollution.
Akhilesh Yadav said that if this situation continues, Delhi will also lose its identity as the largest market and economic center of North India. Neither domestic and foreign tourists will come, nor big sports events, nor international conferences, nor educational, cultural and literary programs will be possible. Hotels, restaurants, taxis, cabs, handicrafts and all small and big businesses will be on the verge of collapse.
He also said that due to pollution, people will avoid coming to Delhi when planes will not be able to fly, trains will be late for hours and road transport will become unsafe. The situation may reach such a level that people will be forced to think about the air and water of Delhi before deciding the marriage of their children.
He alleged that the BJP government is promoting the destruction of Aravali by legalizing illegal mining and due to immense hunger for land. If this conspiracy is not stopped then the country’s capital will become the “pollution capital” of the world and people will be forced to leave Delhi. Akhilesh Yadav appealed that every citizen, every school-college, businessman, shopkeeper, street vendor and every family should become a part of the ‘Save Aravali’ campaign.
He also called upon the media to take up this campaign strongly. He said, “Saving Aravali means saving ourselves, our children and the future of Delhi. Let us all together save Aravali and defeat destructive politics with the power of people and public opinion.”
