Demonstration in Nepal against the murder of Hindu youth in Bangladesh

Kathmandu. Hindu youth protested in Birganj against the incident of beating a Hindu youth to death and burning his body on the basis of false allegations in Mymensingh district of Bangladesh. The protesters criticized the Bangladesh government, demanding strict action against those involved in the incident.

The Hindu youth involved in the protest circled Veerganj city raising slogans like “Killing of Hindus will not go”, “Down with Bangladeshi Muslims”. After this they reached Ghantaghar, where they expressed their protest by burning the picture with the flag of Bangladesh.

The protesting youth alleged that minority Hindus in Bangladesh are unsafe and that despite such brutal killings, the government is not taking action against the culprits. They warned that if action was not taken they would launch a major agitation.

Addressing the gathering organized at Ghantaghar, Hindu youth leader Vikas Sah said that minority Hindus have been oppressed in Bangladesh even before this. He said that Hindu religion is peace loving and atrocities and violence against Hindus will not be tolerated in any corner of the world. “The Bangladesh government should guarantee the safety of Hindus,” Sah said.

Nepal Muslim Samaj Sangh, Parsa has also strongly condemned the incident of brutal murder of a youth from minority Hindu community in Bangladesh. Mehboob Ali (Sheru), who claims to be the president of the union, has expressed deep sorrow over this inhuman incident and expressed heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family.

He said that the recent incident of brutal murder of an innocent youth of minority Hindu community in Bangladesh has put all of us in deep sorrow and concern. Such inhuman, hateful and violent incidents seriously attack humanity, co-existence and religious tolerance.

The Muslim League stressed the need to maintain brotherhood, love, harmony and mutual relations between majority and minority communities across the world and said that any kind of violence on the basis of religion, caste or community is unacceptable for a civilized society. Always describing Nepal as an example of religious tolerance and social unity, concern has also been expressed about the violence being perpetrated on minorities in the neighboring country.
