Delhi-NCR in the grip of dense fog, poisonous air continues with severe cold, AQI crosses 400 in many areas

Delhi AQI: Pollution continues to wreak havoc in Delhi-NCR with fog and severe cold. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in the national capital. The weather department has predicted continuous fog and cold in the area. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of moderate to dense fog in Delhi-NCR in the morning and evening. Along with this, there is a possibility of a drop in day temperature also. Due to which people will not get relief from cold even in the afternoon. The Meteorological Department says that the effect of cold is likely to increase further in the plains in the coming days.

When will Delhi’s air improve?

The Meteorological Department says that, despite the arrival of western disturbance, there is no possibility of any significant improvement in the weather of Delhi. The wind speed is very slow, due to which the spread of pollutants is being limited. This is the reason why the level of air pollution remains very high. The Meteorological Department says that the situation may worsen in the coming days.

AQI reached severe category on Sunday

Earlier on Sunday, air pollution in the national capital Delhi reached close to severe category. During this period, there was dense fog, severe cold and severe haze in the plains. Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) increased rapidly throughout the day and reached 410 at 11 pm, crossing the severe category during the night. According to the Delhi Air Quality Early Warning System of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, a slight improvement in the air quality index was seen till 6.30 am. Even after this it was recorded at 396. Which remained close to serious category.

How will the air of Delhi be for the next 6 days?

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the air quality is likely to remain in the severe category from 20 to 22 December and a slight improvement is expected on 23 December. However, the situation remains worrying for the next 6 days, in which the air quality will remain between very poor and severe levels. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer App, air quality levels at several monitoring stations were recorded as extremely poor this morning. During this period, AQI was recorded at 455 in Chandni Chowk and 449 in Wazirpur. On the other hand, Rohini and Jahangirpuri AQI was recorded at 444-444. Whereas 438 air quality index was recorded in Anand Vihar and 436 in Mundka.
