Tight arrangements in Dhaka for Hadi’s funeral, public outcry
bangladeshThe situation in Dhaka is becoming extremely sensitive on Saturday following the funeral of Na Inquilab Manch coordinator and renowned student leader Sharif Usman Hadi. Thousands of people from different parts of the country are flocking to the Sansad Bhawan (National Parliament) area to attend his last farewell. Keeping in mind the possible crowd and security, the administration is maintaining strict surveillance in the entire area.
According to government information, Sharif Osman Hadi’s Namaz-e-Janaza will be offered at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building on Saturday afternoon. Traffic on Manik Miyan Avenue has been completely stopped since earlier this morning. The police have set up security posts at various places and launched an intensive search operation.
After the funeral, his body will be taken to Dhaka University, where homage will be paid at the Central Mosque. After this, Sharif Usman Hadi will be buried near the grave of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. Dhaka University Administration held an online meeting on Friday night and had a special discussion regarding the security of the campus and the mausoleum.
Due to security reasons, the press wing of the Chief Advisor has appealed to the people not to bring any kind of bag or heavy luggage to the funeral procession. Apart from this, a strict ban has also been imposed on flying drones in the Parliament House area. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has deployed more than 1,000 police personnel with body-worn cameras to further strengthen security. Through this modern camera, every movement will be directly monitored from the central control room.
