Gajendra Chauhan was defrauded of Rs 98 thousand in D-Mart scam, police got the money back like this
News India Live, Digital Desk: Nowadays, the cases of online fraud have increased so much that anyone can fall prey to it, be it a common man or a well-known personality. Recently, famous actor Gajendra Chauhan (who is known for his role of Yudhishthir in ‘Mahabharat’) also became a victim of a similar online fraud. The good news is that due to the promptness of the cyber police, they have got their lost money back. This incident shows how online fraudsters adopt new methods every day, and how cautious we need to be. What was the whole D-Mart scam? Gajendra Chauhan was duped by fraudsters with a fake D-Mart app. He was told that if he invested some small amount in the app every day, he would get good returns on it. This is exactly the same as many fake ‘part-time jobs’ or ‘online investment’ scams these days. In the beginning, Gajendra Chauhan actually got some small returns, which built his confidence. Often fraudsters start in the same way – first show a little profit so that the greed of the victim increases. When Gajendra Chauhan was convinced, he first invested Rs 10,000. Then the fraudsters asked him to invest more money and he invested a total of Rs 98,000 in that fake app. When Gajendra Chauhan tried to withdraw the money he had earned, he could not withdraw it. Only then did he realize that he had become a victim of fraud. This is the most common trick of online scammers – showing small profits in the beginning, then disappearing after withdrawing huge money. How did he get help from the police? After realizing his mistake, Gajendra Chauhan did not immediately give up and took the help of cyber police. He lodged his complaint with Mumbai Cyber Police. Cyber police took immediate action without any delay. With the help of their agility and new technologies, the police tracked down the accounts where the money was sent. After a lot of hard work, the cyber police team successfully managed to recover the entire Rs 98,000 that the actor had lost. It was really a big relief. This incident is a lesson for all of us. Any online investment or money making opportunity that promises quick and high returns is often a scam. Do not blindly trust any unknown link or app. Always be alert, do your research and if you come across any such fraud, contact the cyber police immediately.
