Big decision of central government, great news for firefighters

New Delhi. The Central Government has made a big change regarding former firefighters. This change will strengthen both career options and stability after service for the youth included in the Agniveer Scheme. Their recruitment in BSF and other security forces will become easy and assured.

Quota increased in BSF

Now the Central Government has increased the quota for Agniveer in BSF to make recruitment easy and attractive. Earlier this quota was only 10%, but under the new rule it has been increased to 50%. This change has been made by amending the Border Security Force, General Duty Cadre (Non-Gazetted) Recruitment Rules, 2015.

Ex-Agniveers got exemption

Under the new rules, ex-fire veterans will be given age relaxation in recruitment. This relaxation will be for five years for the first batch and three years for the second batch. Apart from this, they will also be exempted from Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test. A fixed vacancy reserve will be maintained for direct recruitment for ex-fire veterans in every recruitment year.

Changes in recruitment process

Recruitment will take place in two phases. In the first phase, the Nodal Force will recruit for Ex-Agniveers under 50% reserve vacancy. In the second phase, Staff Selection Commission will conduct the recruitment process for the remaining 47% vacancies (which includes 10% for ex-servicemen). Moreover, in case of unfilled vacancy, preference will be given to ex-Agniveers.

What is the new provision?

In June this year, the Central Government also made changes in the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961. Under this, the Union Home Ministry has added a new point, which will help in conducting further progress and activities of Agniveers who are released after completing four years of service.
