Gavaskar Shubman Gill: Team India was announced on Saturday for the T20 World Cup 2026. Shubman Gill has not been given a place in the 15-member team. Akshar Patel has been appointed vice-captain of the team in place of Gill. Gill’s performance in the recently played T-20 series against South Africa was quite disappointing.

However, despite this, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has come out in support of Gill. He says that Shubman’s drop is quite surprising and he should have got a place in the team.

What did Gavaskar say after Gill’s drop?

Sunil Gavaskar, while talking to Star Sports, said, “Gill not being selected in the World Cup team is quite surprising. Gill is a classic and brilliant batsman, whose performance has been amazing since the T20 World Cup. Yes, he was seen struggling in some matches against South Africa. However, class is permanent and form is temporary. Along with this, Gill had come from a very long break and he was not in rhythm. When you are in T20 cricket, If you are not in rhythm then you face a lot of problems, the shots required in T20 do not come so easily.
