Delhi IGI Airport Dispute: Captain Virendra Sejwal gave clarification in the case of assault with a passenger at Delhi Airport, told why he got so angry.

DELHI: On Friday, the pilot of Air India Express did something at Delhi Airport due to which the airline company is again in the headlines on social media. In fact, a pilot of Air India Express beat the passenger badly, due to which he got seriously injured. Captain Virendra Sejwal’s lawyer has given clarification on the passenger-captain dispute that took place at Delhi’s IGI Airport. He said that this matter was completely private, it has nothing to do with his profession. He said that at that time he was traveling as a common passenger. In the case of the fight between a passenger and a captain that took place on December 19, 2025, at Terminal-1 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, the statement of Captain Virendra Sejwal on behalf of his lawyer has come out that Captain Virendra Sejwal was traveling as a common passenger at that time.

He was not on any flight duty and the incident had nothing to do with his profession or job. This was purely a personal matter between two passengers, which was presented in a false colour.

Captain Sejwal said that the dispute started with unprovoked abuse by another passenger. Despite being stopped several times, he continued using abusive and threatening language. As the matter escalated, a scuffle broke out, in which Captain Sejwal also got injured. The CISF personnel present at the spot immediately intervened and tried to control the situation, but the other passenger did not calm down even in front of them.

Ultimately this matter was resolved there in the presence of CISF officers. Both parties voluntarily signed written statements saying that they did not want to take any kind of legal action. It has been made clear in the statement that there was no pressure or coercion in this. CISF has also clarified on social media platform X that both the parties were given the option to lodge a complaint, but they themselves refused.

As soon as information about the incident was received, the Civil Aviation Ministry ordered an investigation. Air India Express also took immediate action against pilot Captain Virendra Sejwal and suspended him. Air India Express said that the pilot was not on duty at the time of the incident and the passenger on whom he raised his hand was a passenger on another flight.
