IPL Auction 2026: Prashant Veer’s price explodes from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 14.20 crore

Prashant Veer’s IPL value exploded on Tuesday, with Chennai Super Kings paying Rs. 14.20 crore for the Uttar Pradesh all-rounder at the IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi, a staggering 47.3 times his base price of Rs. 30 lakh.

CSK had to see off early interest from Rajasthan Royals and a late challenge from Sunrisers Hyderabad to secure Veer, whose price kept climbing sharply through the bidding. The deal made the 20-year-old the most expensive uncapped player in IPL auction history. Moments later, Kartik Sharma joined him at the top of the list, when CSK acquired his services at the same price.

Veer, a left-arm spinner and middle-order batter, will feature in the IPL for the first time. In 12 T20s so far, he has scored 112 runs at a strike rate of 167.16 and claimed 12 wickets in nine innings at an economy rate of 6.45. After breaking through in the UP T20 League with Noida Super Kings, Veer is viewed as a long-term option to step into the role which was occupied by Ravindra Jadeja at Chennai Super Kings.
