Premier League: Who is Jack Fletcher, Manchester United’s debutant against Aston Villa?
Manchester United introduced midfielder Jack Fletcher for his senior debut in the Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Sunday.
The 18-year-old Fletcher was introduced in the 73rd minute as United was trailing 1-2 away to Villa.
Fletcher is the son of former United legend Darren, who played for the club from 2002 and 2015. He won five Premier League titles and a Champions League, while making 342 appearances for the club.
Fletcher moved from Manchester City’s academy to United’s with his twin brother, Tyler, in 2023 and has been part of United’s Under-18 squad.
After training with the senior squad in the 2024-25 season, Fletcher was included in a senior United matchday squad for the first time in October 2024, in the win victory over Brentford. He was also an unused substitute for games against West Ham United and Chelsea in the following weeks.
Injuries to Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes, earlier in the game, necessitated Fletcher’s introduction.
