‘Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse’ OTT release: When and where to stream Mammootty’s mystery thriller?

Ideally, an Indian superstar-driven movie would take a month or, rarely, half a year to reach the streaming space. So, a Mammootty movie taking a year to announce its digital premiere has taken many by surprise. The Gautham Vasudev Menon directorial Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse has finally found a streaming platform.

Zee5 has announced that the movie, which features Mammootty, Gokul Suresh, and Sushmita Bhat in lead roles, would begin streaming from December 19, nearly a year after its theatrical release. It was released in theatres on January 23, 2025.

An investigative drama with comedic elements, the film marked Gautham Menon’s Malayalam directorial debut, and also features Viji Venkitesh, Vineeth and Vijay Babu, among others.

Produced by MammoottyKampany, the film has screenplay and dialogues by Dr Neeraj Rajan, Dr Sooraj Rajan, and Gautham Menon from a story by Dr Neeraj Rajan.

Vishnu R Dev is the director of photography with editing by Anthony. The film also marks the Malayalam debut of composer Darbuka Siva.

In its review of the movie, THE WEEK wrote that the “script doesn’t do enough justice to the strengths of Mammootty’s performance. Simply put, it doesn’t have enough meat on its bones. Yes, we get the occasional funny references to the earlier films of Mammootty and Suresh Gopi when, for example, these characters try to figure out someone’s password. Yes, there is the much-welcome subversion of the ‘Gautham Menon heroine’. But not every situation into which Dominic gets thrown is compelling or gripping enough, and we begin to feel weary and impatient. And all those fight scenes felt unnecessary, bland, and forcefully included.”

While reserving praise for the characters played by Mammootty and newcomer Sushmita Bhat, the review stated the “secondary players come off as flat, one-dimensional.”
