Ranchi: An Army soldier raped a minor girl in a train parked at Tatisilve railway station on Thursday evening. GRP has arrested the accused Ajit Singh. He is originally a resident of Shahpur, Prayagraj. Presently posted in Patiala 42 Medium Regiment. Medical examination of the victim was done on Friday. His statement will be recorded in the court on Saturday.

Investigation revealed that this army train had come from Guwahati carrying goods for the Army Headquarters at Namkum. After handing over the goods to the Army Headquarters on December 15, instructions were given to keep the train standing in Line No. 3 located at Tatisilve till further orders. Ajit Singh was deployed in the security of this train. Meanwhile, on Thursday, he forcibly took a minor girl standing there into the empty train compartment and raped her.

The minor girl standing to catch the train to Ranchi told Ranchi GRP that she had reached Tatisilve station from Angada. At around 5:30 in the evening, the army personnel forcibly dragged him to the train standing in line number 3. Closed the door of the bogie. Then he raped her. When he protested, the soldier even beat him. When the victim raised an alarm, the RPF personnel on duty reached there and tried to open the gate, when the accused got scared. After much effort, the accused tried to escape by opening the gate. But two soldiers chased him and caught him. After this the accused clashed with both the soldiers. During this, both the RPF soldiers also suffered injuries. One jawan was injured in his hand and the other in his ear. During interrogation, the accused has been identified as Ajit Singh (aged about 40 years, S. Sahoor, Police Station- Saini, District Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh).
