Sehore: Stone pelting over dispute between two communities, vehicles vandalized on Bhopal-Indore highway
Sehore. Stone pelting took place in Ashta in Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday night following a dispute between two communities. During this period, many vehicles were vandalized on the Bhopal-Indore State Highway. Due to the incident, tension spread in the area. After this, Karni Sena workers blocked the Bhopal-Indore highway. After the police took charge, the situation is under control and the traffic has now become normal.
According to the information, an altercation took place between two communities on the old Bhopal-Indore road near Alipur intersection of Ashta on Sunday night at around 9 pm. Within no time the dispute turned into stone pelting. In this incident, which took place in front of the rest house near Parvati bridge, many vehicles parked and passing on the road were vandalized, causing chaos. After the incident, Karni Sena workers blocked the Chowpatty area on the Bhopal-Indore highway. Due to simultaneous arrival of vehicles from Harda and Kannauj, the jam situation became more serious and the passengers had to face problems.
As the situation worsened, Parvati police station and Ashta police station reached the spot. To control the crowd, the police released tear gas shells and used mild force. Additional police force was called. SDOP Akash Sambhalkar and SDM Nitin Kumar Tale reached the spot and handled the situation. To control the situation, the police fired tear gas shells and chased them away by lathicharge. Heavy police force has been deployed at the spot.
Meanwhile, the statement of National President of Karni Sena Parivar Jeevan Sherpur came out. He said that the dispute in Ashta was a conspiracy by someone and an attempt was being made to defame the movement of the organization. He appealed to the workers to stay away from controversy, return directly to their homes and not get involved in any kind of disturbance.
After consultation with the police and administration, the jam was removed from the highway. A large number of police forces have been deployed and officials are continuously monitoring. Traffic was restored intermittently at Chowpatty on Bhopal-Indore Highway from around 10:45 pm, after which the traffic has become normal at present. Police said the damage caused by the vandalism is being assessed and investigation into the cause of the dispute is underway. The administration appealed to the people to maintain peace and stay away from rumours.
