Vijay Hazare Trophy: Shami led Bengal team ready under the captaincy of Abhimanyu Easwaran
Kolkata. Fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who is out of the Indian team, has been included in the Bengal squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy ODI competition. Shami has been out of the Indian team for a long time but after recovering from injury, he made a brilliant comeback in domestic cricket for Bengal. He has taken 36 wickets across all formats so far in the current season in domestic cricket. The Indian domestic season began with the Ranji Trophy in which Shami took 20 wickets in four matches at an average of 18.60.
He also continued his brilliant performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament and took 16 wickets in seven matches at an average of 14.93. Shami will lead Bengal’s fast bowling attack in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Indian fast bowlers Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar are also included in the Bengal team. Bengal on Friday announced its team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy in which top-order batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran has been made the captain. Bengal have been placed in Elite Group B and will begin their campaign against Vidarbha in Rajkot on December 24. Other teams in this group are Assam, Baroda, Jammu Kashmir, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh.
