According to the trends found so far in the counting of votes on Sunday, he is maintaining a clear lead in 214 local bodies.

In the ongoing counting of votes in 253 out of 288 city councils and nagar panchayats, BJP is leading in 118 bodies, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena in 59 and Ajit Pawar-led NCP in 37 bodies. At the same time, the opposition Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was leading in only 49 bodies till the last news was received, while the Congress, which is contesting the elections alone, is leading in 32 bodies.

It is noteworthy that BJP has already won three seats unopposed, in which the members and presidents of Dondaicha Municipal Council (Dhule) and Angar Nagar Panchayat (Solapur) have been elected unopposed. Also, there was no opposition in the election of President of Jamner Municipality.

I campaigned based on a positive development agenda and never criticized any political leader or party. We sought votes only on the basis of development agenda, work done so far and future plans.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the results of Maharashtra’s local body elections are a trailer of what is going to happen in the municipal elections to be held on January 15. Shiv Sena leader Shinde also lauded his army’s ‘strike rate’ and said, ‘These results confirm the good work done by our party.’ Talking to reporters, he said that these results reflect the tendency of the public which gives priority to development over politics. Mahayuti’s victory is just a trailer. Mahayuti will repeat the same excellent performance in the upcoming municipal elections also.
