There was panic in Rawalpindi due to PTI’s protest, the whole city turned into a cantonment.

Security has been tightened in Rawalpindi after ousted Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 17 years in jail. After the court’s decision, nationwide protests have also started on the call of Imran Khan. Due to the protests in Rawalpindi, the entire city has been converted into a cantonment. Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Google search engine is also keeping a close eye on the news to this effect spread in Pakistani media.

According to AI, more than 1,300 police officers and security personnel have been deployed across the city to prevent possible protests by PTI supporters. Authorities have set up 32 checkpoints at key locations including Liaquat Bagh, Favwara Chowk, Committee Chowk and Faizabad. Strict surveillance is being maintained at Adiala Jail. Imran Khan has been kept in this jail. Bunkers have been built on all the roads leading here. Security personnel have been equipped with anti-riot equipment, including tear gas and rubber bullets, to control any demonstrations. To maintain law and order, a three-day ban (Section 144) has been imposed on all political and religious gatherings.

PTI supporters protested in Peshawar and other cities of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday against the conviction of Imran and his wife Bushra Bibi, The Express Tribune reported. Protestors gathered at Assembly Square in Peshawar. Speakers condemned the court decisions, claiming that the founding chairman and his wife were being targeted out of political vendetta and that the judiciary had failed to deliver impartial justice.

Speakers warned that the party cannot be silenced by this. He said that Imran Khan has directed the workers to take to the streets. According to Dunya News report, former Prime Minister Imran Khan has called for nationwide protests after his conviction in the second Toshakhana case. Imran Khan told his lawyers that this decision was not surprising and called it another decision taken for political purposes. He has instructed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to prepare for the mass movement. “The nation must stand up for its constitutional rights,” Khan said. PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja said that Imran Khan has given a clear message of protest. Imran has said that he will neither apologize nor compromise under pressure.
