Smriti Mandhan made history by making a comeback! She became the first Indian woman cricketer to achieve this milestone
The five-match T20 series between India and Sri Lanka has started. The first match of this series was played yesterday. In this match, the Indian team has taken the lead in the series by defeating Sri Lanka. After winning the World Cup, the Indian team played their first match yesterday. Indian women’s cricket team opener Smriti Mandhana, who returned to the field after facing a tough time in her personal life, achieved a major milestone in her comeback on Sunday.
Mandhana was scheduled to marry musician Palash Muchhal on November 23, but the wedding was called off. After that, an Indian player stepped on the field for the first time and created history. She did this in the first T20 match played against Sri Lanka at Visakhapatnam, which India won. Mandhana didn’t make a big splash in the match, but still earned her place in a special list. She is only the second batsman in this list. Mandhana faced 25 balls against Sri Lanka and scored as many runs.

The left-handed batsman hit four fours in her innings. During this innings, Mandhana achieved a major milestone in T20 internationals. She crossed the 4,000 T20 International runs mark. She is only the second female cricketer to achieve this milestone. The record was previously held by Suzy Bates of New Zealand. This means she is the first Indian woman cricketer to score so many runs. Before her, no Indian women’s batsman had reached the 4,000-run mark in T20 Internationals. Mandhana now has 4,007 runs in 154 matches. She has scored a total of one century and 31 fifties in this format.
