Mahayuti claimed victory, BJP emerged as the largest party

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led Mahayuti alliance on Sunday claimed victory in the local body elections in Maharashtra. According to the State Election Commission, voting was held on a total of 286 seats in the Maharashtra Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Council elections. Despite no official announcement from the State Election Commission yet, the ruling Mahayuti alliance on Sunday claimed a decisive lead, saying early trends point towards a massive mandate in its favor in city councils and local bodies.

Emerged as the largest party with 118 seats

This victory of the Mahayuti alliance comes after their victory in the 2024 assembly elections and just before the important elections of municipal corporations. BJP emerged as the largest party in the grand alliance with 118 seats. Out of 263 results, let us see what is the position of each party and alliance.

On Maharashtra local body election results, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said, “As everyone knows, under the Mahayuti alliance, we have been working for more than a year under the leadership of state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The results are the result of this work. At many places we had to contest against our own allies, but we campaigned with good coordination. Looking at the results, the public has given us a very positive response. For this I express my gratitude to the voters of Maharashtra.”

Ajit Pawar said, “After the results, our responsibility has increased further. The public has voted keeping in mind the promises made in our speeches, and now it is our duty to fulfill them. The Nationalist Congress Party has also got good seats. Many municipal corporation presidents have been elected. Also, BJP and Shiv Sena have also performed strongly. I congratulate all the elected 288 municipal corporation presidents, irrespective of which party they belong to. I hope that they will understand their responsibilities and act honestly.” Will work.
