Lionel Messi’s India tour: Organizers’ troubles increase

Kolkata. Football superstar Lionel Messi recently visited India, where he participated in various events in cities like Kolkata and Hyderabad. During this tour, the situation in Kolkata worsened, due to which the anger of the spectators was seen in the stadium. A huge budget was spent for this tour of Messi, in which the organizers and Satadru Dutta, who was arrested by the police, gave detailed information about the expenditure.

Messi’s expenses and sources of income

According to the agency report, Dutta told the SIT that a total of ₹89 crore was paid for Messi’s tour, while ₹11 crore was paid as tax to the Government of India. Thus the total expenditure was ₹100 crore. According to sources, 30% of this amount came from sponsors, while the same 30% came from ticket sales. Over ₹20 crore was found in Dutta’s frozen bank accounts.

Chaos and security issues in the stadium

Thousands of spectators had bought expensive tickets during Messi’s event at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. However, the event was thrown into chaos when a large number of people gathered around the field, preventing Messi from being seen. The situation enraged the spectators, leading some to vandalize the stadium. The West Bengal government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the incident.

Security concerns regarding Messi

Officials of the Special Investigation Team said that Dutta told during interrogation that Messi felt uncomfortable in the situation of being surrounded or hugged by the crowd. Foreign security officials had already expressed concerns about Messi’s safety. Dutta said that despite repeated public announcements the crowd could not be controlled. In such a situation, this situation became a serious matter for the World Cup winning footballer.
