Suzie Bates stayed away from cricket for three months due to injury

Wellington. New Zealand’s experienced opening batsman Suzie Bates will stay away from cricket for the next three months due to injury. She has suffered a serious tear in her quadriceps muscle, due to which she will not be able to take the field from the domestic summer season till March.

Suzie Bates suffered this injury while fielding during a Shield match last month. Subsequent scans confirmed that there was a serious tear in the muscle, due to which the former captain would require about three months of rehabilitation.

The injury will rule Suzie Bates out of the remainder of Otago’s domestic summer season as well as the home series against Zimbabwe in February. Now his sights are set on a comeback through the white-ball series against South Africa in March.

Suzie Bates said, “It is extremely disappointing for me to miss this summer season. I was very excited to have another season with the Sparks, especially playing the Super Smash. Now I am focused on getting back on the field for the White Ferns in March.”

The New Zealand team management is hopeful that Bates will be fully fit and strengthen the team in the series against South Africa.
