WTC 2027 standings take shape as Australia lead the pack
Six months into the fourth edition of the ICC World Test Championship, the race for the 2027 final is beginning to take shape — and Australia have already emerged as clear front-runners.
Since losing their WTC crown to South Africa in a five-wicket defeat at Lord’s, Australia have responded in emphatic fashion. They have won all six Tests they have played in the current cycle, starting with a comprehensive 3–0 whitewash of the West Indies in the Caribbean. That momentum has continued against England, with Australia currently leading the ongoing Ashes series 3–0 and sitting atop the WTC standings with a perfect points percentage of 100. They now appear favorites to register yet another home Ashes whitewash.

New Zealand and defending champions South Africa occupy second and third spots respectively, with points percentages of 77.78 and 75. The Black Caps launched their campaign with a 2–0 series win over West Indies at home, a series that concluded on Monday. South Africa, meanwhile, have made a strong start by drawing 1–1 with Pakistan before producing an impressive 2–0 series victory over India on Indian soil.
England’s hopes of reaching the WTC final once again appear slim. Currently seventh on the table with a points percentage of just 27.08, England have lost five of their seven Tests in the cycle so far, including three consecutive defeats in Australia. If the trend continues, they are set to miss the WTC final for the fourth straight edition.
