Cough Cyrup Case: Five pharma companies on the radar of UP STF, police will register FIR against them
Lucknow. Five pharmaceutical companies of the state are on the radar of UP STF in the Codeine Cough Syrup Case. Sixty pieces of evidence have been found against the accused. On this basis itself, FIR has been initiated against them. The STF is interrogating the families of the absconding accused in this case in Lucknow and Varanasi. Many documents have also been asked from these people. STF has collected many evidences against dismissed constables Alok Singh, Amit Tata and Vibhor Rana. Many important information has also been received from their bank accounts. On this basis, STF is carrying forward its investigation.

Evidence has been found of their dealings with the gang’s mastermind Shubham Jaiswal. These people were supplying codeine cough syrup for a long time. Seeing huge profits in this, the accused stopped the production of syrup of Abbott Company and these people supplied the syrup to West Bengal through firms created with fake documents. Then from here it was smuggled and sent to Bangladesh and Nepal. The entire network was exposed only after the arrest of Vibhor Rana. STF investigation itself has revealed that many pharma companies supported this gang to earn huge profits.
Licenses of seven more firms canceled
The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) department is tightening its grip against cough syrup smugglers in Varanasi district of UP. The licenses of seven more pharmaceutical firms were canceled on Saturday. In this, many operators did not give records of purchase and sale, some gave wrong information. Shubham Jaiswal’s father Bhola Prasad’s Ranchi-based firm Shaili Traders had supplied Codeine-Based Cough Syrup to 126 firms in Banaras. The firms in whose name the syrup was sent. When they were investigated, many firms were found closed. At the same time, records of purchase and sale were not found with some firms. So far, a case has been registered against 41 pharmaceutical firm operators in this case. Now a notice is being sent to them asking for records of purchase and sale.

Two arrested in codeine syrup smuggling case in Mirzapur
On Sunday, Adalhat police arrested two accused who opened a firm in Mirzapur and illegally smuggled codeine syrup with the help of fake documents. He was caught from Baraipur (Chhota Mirzapur). They are residents of Ramnagar and Sigra areas of Varanasi. Investigation has revealed that transactions worth crores of rupees have taken place from the bank accounts of both.
