Yogi cabinet decisions: 25 proposals approved including new universities in Bhadohi and Shahjahanpur, two big bridges on Ganga.

In the cabinet meeting held on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, many major decisions were taken regarding the infrastructure and education sector of Uttar Pradesh. A total of 25 proposals were approved in the meeting, which included important decisions related to establishment of new universities, construction of bridges on river Ganga and madrassa education.
The government has paved the way for three new universities to promote higher education. Kashi Naresh Government Post Graduate College located at Bhadohi will now be upgraded to become ‘Kashi Naresh University’. For this, the proposal to amend the State University Act, 1973 has been approved. Apart from this, ‘Swami Shukdevanand University’ will be established by integrating the units of Mumukshu Ashram Trust in Shahjahanpur. At the same time, the proposal to establish ‘Uttar Pradesh Forestry and Horticulture University’ in Gorakhpur has also been approved.
Madrasa Bill Withdrawal and Budget Proposal
The Cabinet has also given its consent to an important decision related to Madrasa education. Under this, the proposal to withdraw the Uttar Pradesh Madrasa (Payment of Salaries of Teachers and other Employees) Bill, 2016 has been approved. Along with this, the proposal of Supplementary Grant and Appropriation Bill for the financial year 2025-26 was also given green signal, which has now been presented in the Assembly.
New bridges will be built in Prayagraj and Bhadohi
To strengthen the infrastructure, two big projects of the Public Works Department have been passed. A new four-lane bridge will be built on the Ganga river in Prayagraj to connect the Salori-Hetapatti-Jhunsi road. It will be a segmental box girder bridge with footpath. At the same time, a long concrete bridge will now be built in place of the Pipa bridge on river Ganga near Sitamarhi (the place where Mata Sita resides) in Bhadohi. For this, access road and protective works have also been approved.
Urban development and other decisions
The formation of a new development authority for the development of Varanasi and Vindhyachal region has been approved. Under the Chief Minister Urban Expansion Scheme, funds have been sanctioned to Azamgarh Development Authority for the development of new cities. Additionally, on the proposal of the Department of Energy, the loan limit of the Revolving Bill Payment Facility has been increased from Rs 6,800 crore to Rs 12,000 crore.
In a step towards women’s welfare, relaxation in land rules has been given for the construction of eight working women’s hostels in Lucknow, Noida and Ghaziabad. Also, it has been decided to establish a textile park on 75 acres of land under the Sant Kabir Textile and Apparel Park Scheme in Varanasi. It has also been decided to constitute ‘Uttar Pradesh Specialist Doctor and Medical Teacher Recruitment Board’ for health services.
