That is, it can be said that in the new year, ICICI Bank is preparing to give a big blow to the credit card users. The bank has announced new changes regarding credit card services and charges. According to which, amendments have also been made on the rewards received from transactions. According to the bank, these changes will come into effect from January 2026.
The biggest blow from this credit card is going to be to those people who are associated with online games. That is, if you use a credit card for transactions on games like Dream-11, MPL, Rummy Culture and Junglee Games, then you will have to pay a charge of 2 percent of the total transaction. Apart from this, it will also be implemented on the upcoming Merchant Category Code (MCC) in future.
New changes will come into effect from January 15
ICICI Bank has been continuously announcing major changes in its credit card portfolio for the last few years. Now many changes have been announced from the new year. These amendments will be effective from January 15. Whereas changes in the reward limit or amendments related to it will come into effect from 1 February 2026. In this, ICICI Super-Premium Emerald card holders are going to face the biggest blow. Because the Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) charge on this has been increased to 2%. Along with this, reward points will no longer be available on transactions like government services, fuel, tax payments and rent and a charge of Rs 3500 will also have to be paid for the new add-on card.

There will be a decrease in reward points
Apart from this, in the changes from the new year, the limit of reward on transaction expenditure on credit cards will also be fixed. On some cards like Emerald, Emerald Private, Rubix and Saphiro, monthly rewards will be available only up to Rs 20 thousand. Apart from this, there will be a reward limit of only Rs 10,000 on Coral, CSK, Expressions Platnium, Manchester United and other median category cards. This will impact those making rail and bus bookings the most. Whereas for loading amount of Rs 5,000 or more in third party wallets like Amazon Pay, Paytm, Freecharge, OlaMoney and MobiKwik, a fee of 1 percent will be charged.
