KSCA application on Vijay Hazare match permission, inquiry committee formed!
A committee has been formed to investigate the issue of holding cricket matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Home Minister G Parameshwara on Monday held a meeting with Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) officials and senior police officers in the sub-committee room of Vidhana Soudha regarding holding a cricket tournament at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
In this meeting, KSCA President Venkatesh Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Tushar Girinath, State Director General of Police Dr. MA Salim, Home Department Secretary KV Sharath Chandra, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, AGDP R. Hitendra and KSCA officials were present.
Karnataka State Cricket Association has sought permission to organize Vijay Hazare cricket match on December 24, in which spectators will not be allowed to reach the stadium and watch the match.
In this regard, keeping in mind the safety of spectators and players, a committee has been formed under the leadership of Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Commissioner. This committee includes Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, Public Works, Fire and Emergency Services Department and Health Department. This committee will submit the report to the government after inspecting the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The government will take the next decision on the basis of the committee report.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner has already stated in his letter that it is mandatory to follow the 17-point recommendations for organizing matches here. The committee will review what work has been completed and will inform the government by 5 pm on Monday.
On June 4, during the celebrations of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) winning the IPL title, there was a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, in which 11 people died, while some were also injured. After this the stadium had to host a total of 5 World Cup matches including the final of the Women’s World Cup.
