Samsung Galaxy S26 series nears launch in India with BIS battery certification

By December 2025, Samsung’s upcoming **Galaxy S26 series**—comprising the S26, S26+, and the flagship **S26 Ultra**—is moving towards an India launch, with the batteries of several models receiving Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification. Recently **S26+** (model SM-S946) has received approval, before this **S26** (SM-S942) and **S26 Ultra** (SM-S948) had received certification. These listings confirm preparations for the launch in India, but no specific information like capacity has been revealed.

According to reports, the series will launch at the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco, with the date being **February 25, 2026** often cited, although some are also suggesting a January launch. Its availability in India is expected soon after the global launch.

**Expected specifications of the Galaxy S26 Ultra** include:

– 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution
– 120Hz (or higher) refresh rate
– Peak brightness up to 3,000 nits

It will be powered by a **Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5** chipset (exclusive to Ultra in Global/India, possible Exynos 2600 elsewhere), paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The quad-camera setup is expected to have a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide, a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto, and a 10MP (or upgraded) additional telephoto. The battery is expected to be 5,000mAh with fast 60W wired and 20-25W wireless charging, which will run on Android 16 with One UI 8 (or 8.5).

Its design will remain similar to the boxy look of S25 Ultra, with some minor changes. In India, the **S26 Ultra** price is estimated to start around ₹1,34,999-₹1,39,999, reflecting its premium positioning.

All details are unconfirmed rumors before the official announcement.
