After this Humayun Kabir decided to form his own political party, which he formally announced at a rally in Rezinagar, Murshidabad on Monday.

He said that his party will only focus on the development of the common people, that is why it has been named Janata Unnayan Party (People’s Development Party). Upgradation means development. He said that his first choice for the party’s election symbol was a table and the second choice was a pair of roses.

Humayun Kabir has also announced that he will contest elections on all 294 seats of Bengal. He claims that he will emerge as a kingmaker in Bengal politics. Humayun has claimed that he will win 10 seats in Murshidabad. Out of 22 seats in Murshidabad, TMC has 20 seats, while BJP had won 2 seats.
