According to experts, due to the greater depth of the earthquake, the possibility of large-scale destruction on the surface is less, although tremors can be felt far and wide.

According to the USGS, the earthquake’s epicenter was located about 26 miles northeast of the city of Goroka, Papua New Guinea.
