Five people have been sentenced to life imprisonment for gang rape of a mother and daughter on Bulandshahr highway in 2016.
New Delhi. In the case of gang rape of a woman and her minor daughter on the National Highway in Bulandshahr, UP, the special POCSO court, while giving its verdict today, has sentenced five convicts Zuber, Sajid, Dharamveer, Naresh and Sunil to life imprisonment. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 1.81 lakh on each convict. This heinous incident of gang rape of mother and daughter took place in July 2016. While giving the verdict, the court considered it to be the most heinous crime and ordered half of the fine to be given to both the victims. The High Court had ordered a CBI investigation in this case.

This matter was much discussed. 19 policemen, including the then SP of Bulandshahr, were suspended for negligence. The police had made a total of 11 people accused. Out of which two accused were killed by Noida STF Police. Due to lack of identity of three accused, they got clean chit from CBI. Whereas one accused had a heart attack in the district jail and died.

Let us tell you that the members of the victim’s family living in Khoda, Ghaziabad were going to their native village Shahjahanpur by car via Noida on the night of 29-30 July 2016. Near Dostpur village of Bulandshahr Dehat Kotwali area on NH-91, the accused placed a heavy iron object on the highway. When the people in the car got down from the road to remove the iron object, the accused held them hostage at gunpoint. After this, the woman and her minor daughter of the family traveling in the car were taken to the fields and both of them were gang-raped. This incident had raised question marks on the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh and people had become hesitant in traveling at night with their families.
