First glimpse of veteran actor Ashish Vidyarthi starrer short film ‘Vishaad’ revealed

Mumbai . When cinema tells the story through silence rather than words, then it becomes an experience. The upcoming short film ‘Vishaad’ gives a glimpse of such a deep, emotional and mysterious world, the first look of which has recently been officially released. The film will premiere on Pocket Films YouTube channel on 16 January 2026.

Made under the banner of Finchbill Motion Pictures Pvt. Ltd., the film is produced by Neelanjan Rita Dutta. The film is co-directed by Navaneeta Sen and Nilanjan Rita Dutta, while its sensitive and layered screenplay is written by Navaneeta Sen. The film’s composer is Ashu Chakraborty, whose music adds depth to the somber, meditative and emotional tone of the story.

The film’s cast is one of its greatest strengths. Veteran actor Ashish Vidyarthi will be seen playing the role of a tired inspector, along with Rajeshwar and Ketaki Narayan in pivotal roles. The actors bring the soul of the film to life through limited dialogue and powerful expressions.

The story of ‘Vishaad’ revolves around a reclusive scientist and an inspector living on the edge of a quiet town. What starts as a simple investigation slowly enters a world of memories, loss and untold grief. As the investigation progresses, the Inspector is faced not only with the truth, but with the shadows of memories and emotions that were long buried.

Regarding the film, co-director and writer Navneeta Sen says, “‘Vishaad’ is a story of echoes more than answers. It is an exploration of how grief lives silently within us and how silence sometimes says more than words.” According to producer and co-director Nilanjan Rita Dutta, “This film is very close to my heart. ‘Vishaad’ is a human story, which has been tried to be told with restraint and sensitivity.”

With a minimalist treatment, atmospheric cinematography and emotional depth, ‘Vishaad’ touches on the blurred line between reality and memory. Its first look promises audiences an intimate and thought-provoking cinematic experience, which is generating excitement even before its release.
