Odisha Girls Score 50 Goals In A Match!
Bhubaneswar: We have heard about one-sided matches in hockey. The 24-1 hammering that the Indian men’s team inflicted on hosts USA in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics remains a record more than nine decades after it happened.
But what about a scoreline of 50-0?
Yes, Odisha girls scored 50 times without conceding a goal against Tripura in the ASMITA East Zone Girls’ Sub-Junior Hockey League in Guwahati on Sunday.
Though there is no official confirmation due to a lack of records, this is most likely a record at any level in Indian hockey.
Odisha before the game was one minute old, and maintained relentless pressure throughout the match.
The team scored 10 goals in the opening quarter, 8 in the second to lead 18-0 at half-time. They were even more ruthless after changing ends, pumping in 17 goals in the third quarter and 15 more in the last 15 minutes against the hapless Tripura girls.
