A major road accident has occurred in Indonesia. According to AP report, at least 16 people died in a passenger bus accident in Indonesia’s main island Java on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Budyono, head of the search and rescue agency, said the bus carrying 34 people lost control on a toll road and crashed into a concrete barrier. He told that this bus was going from the country’s capital Jakarta to the country’s ancient royal city Yogyakarta. Then it overturned while entering a curved exit ramp on the Krapyak Toll Road in Semarang city in Central Java.

An exit ramp is a sloping path or path built to allow vehicles to exit a main road (such as a highway or freeway) or connect to another road. Budyono, head of the rescue agency, said, “Many passengers jumped due to the force of the collision and got trapped in the body of the bus.”
Police and rescue teams arrived about 40 minutes after the accident and recovered the bodies of six passengers, who died at the scene. Budyono said 10 other people died on the way to hospital or during treatment. He said that among the 18 victims who are undergoing treatment in two nearby hospitals, five are in critical condition and 13 are in critical condition.
TV reports from Indonesia showed that the yellow bus had overturned on one side. National Search and Rescue Agency personnel, police and passersby are standing around the bus while the ambulance was taking the victims and the dead away from the accident site.
