Passenger assaulted at Delhi airport: Case registered, victim had complained through email

Delhi Police has registered a complaint on Monday morning in the case of assault with a passenger at Delhi Airport. The passenger had alleged that the Air India Express pilot had assaulted him at the Delhi airport. Speaking to The Indian Express, victim Ankit Dewan said that he lodged his complaint through email after returning from his vacation in Jaipur. Diwan said, “I am aware of the matter up to the minute and have lodged an official complaint by sending an email to the Delhi Police. Until I get any update from the police, I will not say anything on the matter.”

Airport police is investigating

IGI Airport police officials said they are investigating the complaint and any further action will be taken after talking to senior officials. The incident occurred on Friday when the Air India Express pilot was accused of assaulting a passenger. According to reports, the pilot attacked Dewan and his family at Terminal 1 during a dispute over the use of the staff security screening area, injuring Dewan.

The pilot made this claim

On Sunday, pilot Virendra Sejwal claimed that the incident was wrongly portrayed on social media as pilot versus passenger, which is not correct. In her statement, Sejwal alleged that Diwan abused her and he was continuously abusing her. Even threatened him. On Saturday, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) ordered an investigation into the incident. The pilot was removed from official duty by the Tata Group airline.

According to passenger Dewan, he had an altercation with Sejwal, who was standing in line with airline staff members. After this the pilot attacked him. Sejwal was not on official duty during the incident and was traveling to Bengaluru in an Indigo flight with one passenger.
