The family immediately took him to the government hospital in Gida, where after first aid, the doctors referred him to Jodhpur AIIMS in view of his critical condition.
The child’s treatment was started under the supervision of expert doctors at AIIMS Jodhpur, but there was no significant improvement in his condition. During the treatment, the doctors conducted all the necessary medical examinations. Despite many efforts, when the child’s brain activity was found to have completely stopped, the doctors declared him brain dead.
Family’s humanitarian decision amid grief
After being declared brain dead, AIIMS doctors informed the family about the situation with full sensitivity. They were also explained about the process of organ donation and its importance.
In this difficult time, Bhomaram’s father Bhairaram, mother and other family members discussed among themselves. Despite deep grief, the family took a big and humane decision. He agreed that if his son’s organs could save someone else’s life, it would be the greatest tribute.
After getting the permission of the family members, the AIIMS administration started the process of organ donation. This decision was not easy, but the family took this step in the interest of society and humanity.
Organs were transported safely by creating a green corridor.
As soon as the approval for organ donation was received, the teams of AIIMS Jodhpur, administration and health department became active. The child’s liver was to be sent for transplant to a hospital in Delhi. For this, a green corridor was made from Jodhpur to the airport, so that the body part could be transported safely on time.
The ambulance was taken to the airport without any hindrance, from where the liver was sent to Delhi by a special flight. Bhomaram’s kidney was transplanted to a needy patient in Jodhpur itself. According to doctors, both the transplants have been successful and the condition of the patients is said to be stable.
The family is proud
Innocent Bhomaram’s grandfather Kishnaram Sen said that the family is proud of their son. He said that even though his grandson is no more in this world, his body parts have brought light back to the homes of two families.
After the completion of the organ donation process, the AIIMS administration handed over the body of the child to the family members. The family took Bhomaram’s body to village Gida for the last rites.
