Aditya Dhar rejected Tamannaah Bhatia for the song ‘Shararat’ – Obnews

Choreographer Vijay Ganguly told in an interview to Filmygyan on December 21, 2025 that he had initially suggested Tamannaah Bhatia’s name for the popular song **Shararat** from Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster film *Dhurandhar*. However, director Dhar rejected the idea so as not to create a traditional “item song” that would distract from the story.

Ganguly said, “She was the one in my mind. I had suggested her name, but Aditya was very clear that he did not want anything that would detract from the story.” He explained Dhar’s vision: “That’s why there are two girls in it, not one. He didn’t want all the focus to be on one person. If Tamannaah was there, the focus would have been on her, not the story.”

The song, which is included in a wedding sequence, finally features Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza as dancers, allowing the story to move forward seamlessly in this intense spy thriller.

*Dhurandhar*, released on December 5, 2025, stars Ranveer Singh as an undercover Indian agent who infiltrates the underworld of Karachi, alongside Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun. It has turned out to be a huge hit, grossing over ₹500 crore nett at the domestic box office in 16 days—the second fastest after *Pushpa 2*—and standing strong against competitors like *Avatar: Fire and Ash*. As of day 17 (21st December), its India net collection is estimated to be around ₹550+ crore, and is soon heading towards ₹600 crore.

Its sequel is scheduled to arrive in March 2026.
