A case of murder of a minor by strangulation in Durg and throwing the body in Raipur has come to light. The boyfriend had pressurized her to have a relationship with his friend. Police have arrested the accused from UP.
Chhattisgarh: On November 22, 2025, the body of a 16-year-old minor girl was found in a suspicious condition in a vacant plot behind Amlidih Solas Heights Colony under New Rajendra Nagar police station area of Raipur. Local people saw the dead body in the bushes, after which the police was immediately informed. Police and Anti Crime and Cyber Unit (ACCU) team reached the spot, cordoned off the spot and started investigation.
In the initial investigation, seeing the condition of the dead body, the police suspected murder. The body was sent for postmortem. The report made it clear that the girl died due to strangulation. After this, a case of murder was registered against unknown accused in New Rajendra Nagar police station.
I left home two days ago
Investigation revealed that the deceased was a resident of Kashiram Nagar in Telibandha area of Raipur. She worked as a caterer at parties and events. Family members told that she had left home two days ago saying for work, but did not return. The family was searching for him when they received information from the police that the body had been found.
The girl’s family and surrounding people were interrogated. The police also started investigating his mobile call records, chats and social media activities.

During the investigation, the police examined the footage of CCTV cameras installed around the incident spot. Informers were also activated. Meanwhile, the police got important information that the minor was last seen with Harish Patel (23), resident of Dewar Basti, Telibandha, and his friend Rahul Patel.
Police came to know that the girl had relations with both the youths. Both the accused were absconding after the incident and were constantly changing their locations. As the suspicion deepened, the police arrested the main accused Harish Patel from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh through technical surveillance.
The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation
During police interrogation, Harish Patel told that the deceased was his girlfriend. On November 19, 2025, he had called the girl to Durg on the pretext of meeting her. The girl reached Durg from Raipur, where the accused booked two rooms in a hotel and accommodated her with his friend Rahul.
On November 20, Harish and his friend Rahul started pressurizing the girl to have physical relations. When the girl protested and flatly refused, a dispute broke out between the three. In anger, both the accused pressed the girl’s throat and mouth with a pot, due to which she died on the spot.
Attempt to show murder as suicide
After the murder, the accused conspired to mislead the police. The girl’s body was brought from Durg to Raipur on a bike and thrown in a vacant plot in New Rajendra Nagar area. After this the accused absconded.
Not only this, accused Harish also sent suicide-like messages to her friend from the girl’s mobile phone. It was written in the message that she was upset with life and did not want to live. The police also made these chats a part of the investigation.
The vicious thief also turned out to be an accused
Police investigation also revealed that the accused Harish Patel is a vicious thief. He, along with his associates, had committed thefts in 11 deserted houses in different areas of Raipur. Police have recovered 400 grams of gold jewellery, 3 kg of silver, Rs 20 thousand in cash, a motorcycle and four mobile phones from him, the total value of which is said to be around Rs 60 lakh.
At present, another accused is still absconding, in search of whom the police is continuously raiding. Police say that there may be further revelations in the case.
