‘Vande Mataram’ is not just a song, it is a mantra for the nation’s consciousness and courage: CM Yogi!
He said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh is probably the first assembly where this historical topic is being discussed in detail.
According to Chief Minister Yogi, this discussion is not just the anniversary of any song, but an opportunity to reestablish national duties towards Mother India. Honoring ‘Vande Mataram’ is not just an expression, but it gives an understanding of our constitutional values and national responsibilities. It is a symbol of the soul, struggle and determination of the nation. It was not just poetry, but a medium of expression of motherland worship, cultural consciousness and nationalism.
CM Yogi said that when ‘Vande Mataram’ was celebrating its silver jubilee, the country was under British rule. After the failure of the first independence movement of 1857, the British rule was at the peak of oppression and tyranny. The voice of the public was being suppressed and tortured through black laws, but ‘Vande Mataram’ kept the dormant consciousness of the country alive. Even when the country was celebrating its silver and golden jubilee, British rule was still in place.
Chief Minister Yogi said that when the centenary of ‘Vande Mataram’ came, the same Congress was in power, which had once given a place on its stage to this song that awakened the soul of the country, but it strangled the Constitution by imposing emergency on the country. This was a period of history which cannot be forgotten.
Referring to the first freedom struggle of the year 1857, the Chief Minister said that there was a struggle for independence across the country under the leadership of Mangal Pandey in Barrackpur, Shaheed Bandhu Singh in Gorakhpur, Dhan Singh Kotwal in Meerut and Rani Lakshmibai in Jhansi.
He said that ‘Vande Mataram’ became a symbol of resistance to the colonial mentality. Mother India was not just the land, but the spirit of every Indian. Independence was not politics, but spiritual practice. The lines ‘Sujlam, Suflam Malayaj-Shitlam Shasyashyalam Mataram’ infused consciousness into the Indian mind and simultaneously embodied the nature, prosperity, beauty and power of India.
