Year Ender 2025: Tribute to martyrs in foreign countries, PM Modi paid tribute at these war memorials

Year Ender 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited many countries so far and this year has been one of special achievements for India. Under his leadership, India has not only created a strong identity on the global stage but has also adopted new paths of development.

During foreign tours, PM Modi also visited war memorials located in different countries and paid tribute to the martyrs. Let us know which countries he visited this year and saluted the heroes.

Wreath at the Victory Monument in Ethiopia

On December 17, 2025, Prime Minister Modi laid a wreath at the Adwa Victory Memorial located in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. This monument is built in memory of the courageous Ethiopian soldiers who sacrificed their lives defending the country’s sovereignty in the historic Battle of Adwa in 1896.

The Adwa Victory Memorial is a symbol of the country’s glorious tradition of independence, self-respect and perseverance and also a medium to honor the indomitable courage of those heroes.

Visit to Majorges War Memorial, France

Earlier in February 2025, Prime Minister Modi visited the Majorges War Memorial in Marseille city of France. Here he paid tribute to the soldiers martyred during World War II and recalled the historic military cooperation between India and France.

Tribute to soldiers in Sri Lanka

During his visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025, PM Modi reached the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) Memorial in Colombo and paid tribute to the martyred Indian soldiers.

Visiting the War Memorial in Poland

During his visit to Poland in August 2024, Prime Minister Modi visited three major war memorials – Good Maharaja Square (Warsaw), Valivade-Kolhapur Memorial and Monte Cassino War Memorial. These memorials symbolize the shared struggle and sacrifice of soldiers of India, Poland and other Allied countries during World War II.

Tribute paid to soldiers in Egypt

During his visit to Egypt in June 2023, PM Modi paid tribute to more than 4,300 Indian soldiers martyred in Egypt and Aden during the First World War at the Heliopolis Commonwealth War Graves Memorial in Cairo.

Tribute to martyred soldiers in Israel

Earlier, during his visit to Israel in July 2017, he paid tribute to the martyred soldiers at the Indian War Memorial in Haifa. During his visit to Singapore in November 2015, PM Modi paid tribute at the INA Memorial Marker. He became the first Indian Prime Minister to do so.

Visit to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra

During his visit to Australia in November 2014, Prime Minister Modi visited the Australian War Memorial in Canberra and paid tribute to the martyrs. These visits of Prime Minister Modi show that India respects not only its own but also the history and sacrifices of the world and this vision further strengthens India’s global leadership role.
