New Delhi: The use of mobile phones in India has increased in the last few years, on the other hand the incidents of cyber crime have increased. Steps are being taken to prevent cyber crimes, but at some places in the country, there is a ban on the use of prepaid SIM cards due to security reasons.
Mobile services have become common in India, but the use of prepaid SIM cards is restricted in some areas. In fact, these restrictions are in areas where it is important to maintain greater security. Use of prepaid SIM cards is largely prohibited in Jammu and Kashmir. The main reason behind banning prepaid SIM cards here is security. The government will have to take such steps to stop terrorist tendencies and prevent the spread of unrest. Additionally, India’s north-eastern states such as Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram have some special restrictions on prepaid SIM cards.
Terrorist organizations often use prepaid SIM cards for communication. These SIM cards can be easily purchased and are difficult to trace. Prepaid SIM cards can also be used to spread rumors and create unrest.
