Mumbai 2025 Drug Seizure Anc Record

The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police has so far seized 1,645 kg of narcotics, whose estimated value is said to be more than Rs 700 crore, as part of the anti-drug operations in the year 2025. This is believed to be the biggest annual recovery so far. The seized narcotics included 1,340 kg of Ganja, 270 kg of Mephedrone (MD), 11 kg of Cocaine and 24 kg of Charas.

According to officials, drug smugglers use code words during transactions to avoid police attention. Words like “chachi” and “Madhuri” were being used especially for MD. Investigation has revealed that through these secret signals, smugglers used to finalize deals through phone and messages.

Before the New Year celebrations, Mumbai Police has intensified its biggest and strictest campaign against drugs. In order to keep the parties of 31st December drug free, the police has clearly indicated that zero tolerance policy towards drugs will be adopted. Police officials say that due to continuous action, many big drug mafias have fled Mumbai, although intelligence information has indicated that efforts can still be made to supply drugs through small-scale peddlers.

In view of this, special operations are being conducted for the last one month. 3,015 drug history-sheeters involved in cases registered under the NDPS Act have been kept under surveillance to break the supply chain. So far in the year 2025, 1,372 smugglers have been arrested, while action has also been taken against more than 6,200 consumers.

Apart from this, the police busted five drug manufacturing units, dealing a major blow to the illegal production network. More than 30 sensitive areas of Mumbai, such as nightlife hubs, coastal areas, highways, clubs and party spots, are being kept under strict surveillance. On New Year’s Eve, special teams will increase patrolling so that the supply of drugs can be stopped by any means.

A senior police officer clarified, the drugs will not reach the party circuit. Police say that this campaign will not be limited only to the New Year, but will be continued with the same strictness in future also, so that concrete steps can be taken towards keeping the city drug free.
