Bhupesh Baghel’s son got Rs 250 crore from liquor scam! Chargesheet shocked the senses
Chhattisgarh: The investigation into the alleged liquor scam in Chhattisgarh has now reached a new turn. The state Anti-Corruption Bureau and Economic Offenses Wing (ACB/EOW) filed the eighth supplementary charge sheet in the special court of Raipur on 22 December 2025. In this, serious allegations have been made against Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. This chargesheet is about 3,800 pages long and also includes digital evidence reports.
Main claims in the charge sheet
The agency claims that Chaitanya Baghel played a key role in forming, running and protecting an organized gang of illegal extortion in the Excise Department during the time of Congress government (2018-2023). He coordinated between top officials like Anil Tuteja, Soumya Chaurasia, Arunpati Tripathi and Niranjan Das as well as grassroots operators like Anwar Dhebar, Arvind Singh and Vikas Aggarwal.
The evidence shows that Chaitanya channelized and managed the scam funds to the upper levels through his trusted people. The special thing is that he himself got a share of Rs 200 to 250 crores. This amount was transferred from Trilok Singh Dhillon’s companies to his family’s firms through banking channels and invested in ongoing real estate projects.
Scam amount Rs 3,074 crore
The amount of scam in the investigation has so far been estimated at Rs 3,074 crore, but in future it may exceed Rs 3,500 crore. This scam took place between 2019-2022, in which illegal commission was collected from every bottle of liquor. The state suffered huge losses. In the parallel investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Chaitanya is also accused of handling money worth more than Rs 1,000 crore.
They are already arrested and investigation is going on. New revelations may lead to more arrests in the case. Congress has called it an act of political vendetta, while BJP has called it a step against corruption. This matter is heating up the politics of Chhattisgarh even more.
