Another anti-Sheikh Hasina leader has been attacked in Bangladesh. According to Bangladeshi media reports, National Citizens Party (NCP) leader Mohammad Motaleb Shikdar was shot after entering his house at 12 noon on Monday in Khulna.

According to reports, the attackers fired directly at Motaleb’s head. He fell seriously injured. People present nearby immediately picked him up and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where his treatment is going on.

According to the police, initially his condition was very critical. Doctors told that the bullet pierced his ear and came out. That is, it did not reach inside the head or brain, hence no serious internal injury occurred.

Police officer Animesh Mandal said that it was fortunate that the bullet did not reach his brain, due to which his life was saved.

Motaleb Shikdar heads NCP’s Khulna division and is also the organizer of NCP Shramik Shakti, a labor organization affiliated with the party. This attack on him has spread panic in the area.

NCP was going to organize a labor rally in Khulna. Shikdar was working on the same. Police have launched operations in several areas to nab the attackers and investigation is underway to find out the reason behind the attack.

NCP is a party made up of students who launched a major movement in Bangladesh last year, which led to the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina.

Student leader Osman Hadi was murdered just a few days ago.

This attack has happened at a time when there is an atmosphere of tension throughout Bangladesh. A few days ago, student leader Sharif Osman Hadi was shot dead in Dhaka.

On 12 December, masked attackers opened fire on him while leaving a mosque in Dhaka. He was airlifted to a hospital in Singapore for treatment, where he died on 18 December.

Hadi was the founder of Inquilab Manch, a student organization associated with Dhaka University. After his death, demonstrations and violence started in many areas including the capital. It was claimed that those who shot at Hadi have fled to India.

However, the Home Ministry of Bangladesh has also said that there is no concrete information that the accused in the murder of Usman Hadi has taken refuge in India.

Indian Army on alert due to violence in Bangladesh

Anti-India sentiments have continuously strengthened in Bangladesh in the last few months. In protest against Hadi’s death, radicals of Inquilab Manch and Jamaat had taken out a march from Benapole to the Indian border on Friday.

He said that former PM Sheikh Hasina should be handed over to Bangladesh. Fundamentalists raised religious slogans outside Chandranath temple in Chittagong.

Here the Indian Army has also become active and is keeping an eye on the situation in Bangladesh. Eastern Command Chief Lt. General RC Tiwari visited the India-Bangladesh border on Thursday evening.
