EV Policy 2.0 rests on three big pillars

Delhi EV Policy 2.0 has been designed around three key areas. These include subsidies on EVs, vehicle scrappage scheme and expansion of charging infrastructure. The government believes that the huge difference in the prices of petrol-diesel vehicles and electric vehicles can be reduced through subsidies. Although the final amount and structure of the subsidy has not been decided yet, the indications are clear that the high price of EV will no longer be a major hurdle for people.

You will get double benefit from scrappage scheme

Vehicle scrappage scheme has also been given important place in the new EV policy. Under this, old and more polluting petrol-diesel vehicles will be removed from the road. If a person scraps his old car and buys a new electric car, he will get financial benefits. This will not only reduce pollution, but will also encourage people to adopt new technology.

Special emphasis on battery recycling

A major feature of Delhi EV Policy 2.0 is the battery recycling system. The average lifespan of lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles is about 8 years. Considering their disposal and impact on the environment, the government is planning to develop an organized battery recycling chain. This system will be implemented for the first time in Delhi.

Target of 5,000 charging stations by 2030

It is not possible to promote EV without charging facility. Keeping this in mind, the government has set a target of setting up 5,000 public charging stations by the year 2030. There will be 4 to 5 charging points at every station. These stations will be installed in market complexes, multilevel parking, government buildings and office complexes, so that people do not have to worry about charging.
