Shaheen Shah Afridi, playing for Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League 2025-26, once again came into limelight, but this time the reason was more for his decision than his bowling. Actually, this incident happened in the 19th over of Sydney Thunder’s innings. Shaheen Afridi bowled a dangerous yorker on the last ball of the over to Australia’s wicket-keeper batsman Matthew Gilks, which was strongly appealed, but was not given out by on-field umpire Claire Polosak. After this, without consulting team captain Xavier Bartlett, Shaheen immediately signaled DRS.
Replays clearly showed that the ball was going in the line of the stumps after hitting the pad. The third umpire reversed the decision and declared Gilks out.
