Rahul Gandhi in Germany: Alleges ED, CBI Are Weaponised Against Opposition – Read

Congress leader and Lok Sabha Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using central investigating agencies for political purposes. Speaking at the Hertie School in Berlin, Germany, he claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have been “weaponised” to target political opponents while sparing members of the BJP.

Gandhi alleged that there are zero cases registered by the ED and CBI against the BJP, and that most political cases pursued by these agencies are directed at opposition leaders. He said this, he argued, demonstrated a broader effort by the government to control India’s institutional framework and weaken democratic norms.

“There is a wholesale capture of our institutional framework,” Gandhi said. “Our intelligence agencies, ED and CBI have been weaponised… most of the political cases are against people who oppose them.”
