BCCI Hikes Women’s Cricket Match Fees by 2.5x in 2025

A huge financial lift has been given to Indian women’s cricket as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declared a significant increment in match fees. This decision is like a nice surprise for women cricket players throughout the nation as 2025 nears its conclusion.

By this thing done, women cricket players’ match payments in the domestic scene are now so close to those of the men.

Increase of BCCI 2.5 times match fee for Indian domestic players approved

Moreover, the decision was made in the course of the BCCI’s Apex Council meeting that took place on December 22. A new pay structure was authorized by the council that will uplift women players’ match fees by as much as 2.5 times. This transformation goes a long way in making it easier for women to engage in cricket as a full-time career.

Before this change, the senior women players who were in the playing XI received ₹20,000 per day in domestic matches while the reserve players were paid ₹10,000. After the implementation of the new system, the players of the playing XI will be paid ₹50,000 per day for both one-day and multi-day matches. The reserve players will be paid ₹25,000 per game. For T20 matches, the members of the playing XI will receive ₹25,000 and the reserves will get ₹12,500.

This new pay structure has also positively impacted junior women players. Now in junior tournaments, members of the playing XI get a daily pay of ₹25,000, while the reserves earn ₹12,500. In T20 matches, junior players in the playing XI will get ₹12,500 per match and non-playing members will receive ₹6,250. These amounts were previously much lower.

In a note from the BCCI, it depicts a senior women’s cricketer who used to take home approximately ₹2 lakh per season when her team was only playing league matches. The new pay structure will, however, lead to a drastic increase in the seasonal earnings, thereby providing the players with a better financial base and being a source of encouragement for the players.

BCCI has also revised the payment of umpires and match referees in domestic cricket. Umpires now will get a fixed amount of ₹40,000 per day in case of league matches, while for the knockout rounds, they will get paid from ₹50,000 to ₹60,000 per day depending on the match level.

It should be noted that this is the first significant change in women’s domestic match fees since 2021.
