What happened when Yogi said in the House – “There are two samples in the country, one in Delhi and one here…”?

Lucknow. There was an uproar in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly after hearing such a statement on Monday. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while replying to the opposition’s questions on the codeine cough syrup issue, said, “There are two samples inside the country, one sits in Delhi and the other in Lucknow. When there is any discussion in the country, they immediately leave the country. I think the same is happening with your ‘babua’ too. He will also go on a trip to England again and you people will keep shouting here.”

There was an uproar in the House with this statement. Samajwadi Party MLAs immediately got angry and walked out of the House. The opposition called it a direct attack on Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi.

Akhilesh Yadav gave a befitting reply

Minutes after the statement, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav hit back on social media platform X. He wrote, “Self-acceptance! No one expected that the Delhi-Lucknow fight would reach this far. People holding constitutional posts should maintain some public modesty among themselves and should not cross the limits of decorum. BJP people should not bring the internal tussle of their party to the crossroads. If someone feels bad, they will have to go back.”

Akhilesh countered Yogi’s statement by taking a jibe at BJP’s internal dispute and said that these “Delhi and Lucknow” samples are actually BJP’s own people.

What was the whole controversy in the codeine cough syrup case?

In fact, the opposition had fiercely attacked the government in the Assembly over the alleged illegal trade of cough syrup containing codeine. SP MLAs alleged that hundreds of children have died due to this.

In response, Chief Minister Yogi clarified that not a single death has occurred due to this syrup in Uttar Pradesh. The deaths are linked to other states. He said that 79 cases have been registered, 225 named and 78 arrests have been made in this case. Also warned that if the investigation progresses, people associated with SP may also come forward and when the time comes, bulldozer action will also be taken.
