Under-19 Asia Cup: Behavior is not good… Mohsin Naqvi said, will complain to ICC about the behavior of the Indian team
Islamabad. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Monday announced that the board will approach the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the “provocative behaviour” of Indian players during the final of the ACC Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup 2025, Geo News reported.
Pakistan performed brilliantly in the title match and won the championship by defeating India by 191 runs at the ICC Academy on Sunday. Speaking at a reception hosted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to congratulate the victorious Pakistan Under-19 team, Naqvi alleged that Indian players repeatedly provoked their Pakistani counterparts during the final.
Naqvi said, “Indian players kept provoking Pakistani players in the Under-19 Asia Cup final.” “Pakistan will inform the ICC about this incident,” he said, adding that politics and sports should be kept separate. Tensions between the two cricketing nations have risen amid ongoing geopolitical issues, and concerns over sportsmanship have emerged throughout the tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Under-19 team mentor and former national captain Sarfaraz Ahmed criticized India for “unethical conduct” during the match. Sarfaraz said, “India’s behavior during the game was not good, and the conduct of the Indian team was unethical.” “But we celebrated the win with sportsmanship, because there should always be sportsmanship in cricket. What India did is their own doing.”
The issue of sportsmanship between the two teams has been under scrutiny throughout the tournament. In September, Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to do the traditional post-match handshake with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Aga and other players during the Asia Cup 2025 fixtures, including the final.
The omission of the traditional handshake at the conclusion of those matches attracted widespread attention, and many observers questioned the spirit of the game. The Indian team had also refused to accept the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from ACC president Mohsin Naqvi after defeating Pakistan by five wickets in the final, reportedly following instructions from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
