Dangerous bet of pauper Pakistan: flouting UN rules for $4 billion

But the news that has come recently has shocked everyone. To fill its empty pockets, Pakistan has now taken a step which has flouted international laws. It is reported that Pakistan has sealed an arms deal worth 4 billion dollars (about 33 thousand crore rupees) with a military force of Libya. Why is this deal so controversial? The biggest thing is that the country to which Pakistan is selling arms, comes under the ambit of the United Nations (UN) ‘Arms Embargo’ i.e. arms embargo. Civil war has been going on in Libya for years and the UN has not taken any kind of action to maintain peace there. There is a ban on selling weapons. But due to financial constraints, Pakistan kept these rules aside. Who is getting these weapons? According to media reports, Pakistan is not selling weapons to the Libyan government, but to the Libyan National Army (LNA) active in eastern Libya. This army is led by General Khalifa Haftar, who is considered an opponent of the current government there. It is being said that this deal was sealed when Pakistan’s Army Chief, Asim Munir, of Libya. Shahar went to Benghazi and met General Haftar’s son Saddam Haftar there. What is Pakistan selling? You must be wondering what is being sold for 4 billion dollars?
